When he heard these words of the Lord. The king felt very satisfied, and prayed in this way: "My dear Lord, please let all of the persons who will appear in the family of the sculptor, who manifested your form, assist, age after age, in the construction of your three carts." Jagannatha replied: "So be it." Jagannatha immediately said to the king: "The descendents of Visvasu, who was my servant in my Nila- Madhava form, should serve me generation after generation. They will be called My Dayitas. And the descendents of Vidyapati, born from his wife, they should execute the deity worship for Me. And the descendents born of your sabari wife, Lalita, should always cook My meals, and they will be called the Suyaras." Thereafter, King Indradyumna said to Lord Jagannatha : "Oh my Lord please be merciful and allow me one more favour. Pemit that the doors of the temple will be closed only three hours a day. The rest of the time, please, let the doors always be open so that the residents of the whole universe can see you. And please allow that there will be offerings to you all day so that your lotus hands will never be dry."
The king said:" That nobody can ever claim Your temple as his property. I do not want to have any descendents, please be so kind and fulfil also this my desire". And the Lord said: "So be it" |

Inthis way the merciful Jagannath, Subadra and Balarama appeared in this material world for the benefit of all living entities. What is the benefit that they obtain? The Narada Purana (U.Uk 52.12) assures us: patrimam tatra tam drstva The Supreme Lord says to Laksmi Devi: "At the great abode known as Purusottam-Ksetra, which is very difficult to reach in the three worlds, the Deity Keshava that is manifested by the Supreme Lord Himself, is situated. If people see this Deity, they can easily come to My abode." |

In this way Jagannatha liberates the whole universe, especially when he travels in his carts in front of the eyes of everyone. I offer my prostrated obeisances to Lord Jagannatha, Subadra and Balarama, and on the occasion of the festival of the carts, I pray to Them that they forgive me all the offences that I have committed in the attepmt of describing Their glorious appearance.
