While Vidyapati was living in the house of the sabara he noted something strange in the way of acting of his host. Every night the sabara left, and the next day about midday, he returned, smelling like camphor, musk and sandalwood. Vidyapati asked his wife what was going on. She told him that her father was going to a secret place to adore the deity of Nila Madhava.

After hearing this the happiness of Vidyavati knew no bounds. The father of Lalita told her not to tell anyone about the deity of Nila Madhava, but she neglected this by telling her husband about it. Vidyapati was very anxious to see the deity of Nila Madhava, and therefore Lalita asked her father if he could take him to take darsan of his worshipable deity. Finally, after insisting for a long time, the sabara Visvasu fulfilled the desire of his daughter, but with the condition that he could not see the road. So he covered the eyes of Vidyapati and took him to the deity Nila Madhava.

In the meantime while they where preparing to leave, Lalita secretly put some mustard seeds in the bag of her husband's clothe, so that he could mark the way. When they reached the residence of Nila Madhava, the sabara uncovered the eyes of Vidyapati. When Vidyapati saw the beauty of Nila Madhava, he started to dance in ecstasy and offered a lot of prayers.

Here we can easily see that this is a self-manifested deity of the supreme Lord. The deities receive the name of Arcavigraha. The Lord appears like this to please his devotees, especially those who are less advanced, since the Lord can only be seen by His more advanced devotees. He appears in the form of the deity to accept the offerings of love of his devotees. Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita (chap. 18.65) ( Cap. 18 - V. 65):

man-mana bhava mad-bhakto
mad-yaji mam namaskuru
mam evaisyasi satyam te
pratiyane priyo 'si me

Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage to unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My dear friend.

Is this way He puts himself in the hands of His devotees, to receive their service and to help them to come to Him.

Always think of Me, Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My dear friend.
